Pacific Rim Laboratories Inc. (PRL) is an ultra-trace organic laboratory specializing in the analysis of polychlorinated dibenzo(p)dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/F), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) and others analytes by high resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS). The company was founded in January 2003 with the partnership of two individuals – David Hope and Patrick Pond – and two companies – Norwest Soil Research Ltd. and GB Scientific Inc.

PRL designed and built a 450 sq. meter laboratory dedicated to ultra-trace organic analysis. The facility was opened in June 2003 with one HRMS (VG-70), and obtained ISO 17025 accreditation by late October 2003 (PCDD/F, PCB, PAH, TBT and NDMA).  In 2004, PRL added one more HRMS, an “M” Series MicroMass Autospec Ultima and expanded its accreditation to include PCDD/F and PCB in food.  In 2005, PRL developed methods for PBDE, PBDD/F, PBB and nonylphenol ethoxylates. A third HRMS was added in 2006, an “S” Series MicroMass Autospec.  In 2007, PRL added accreditation for PBDE, and will be installing a fourth HRMS in mid-November.

Pacific Rim Labs was formed to service the needs of clients around the world, however with a particular emphasis on North America and Asia.
